Fogueres de Sant Joan

From 20 to 29 of June.

The main festivals of Alicante, declared of International Tourist Interest, are celebrated with the arrival of the summer solstice. In them, unique acts are experienced with its peak day being June 24, when the Bonfires are lit, cardboard and wood monuments that fill the city with satirical representations.

After the big days, and until June 29, fireworks are held every night at the end of Playa del Postiguet. Without a doubt, it is one of the best times to visit the city since the arrival of summer joins the festivities. Some dates in which to fully enjoy all the attractions of the city.

Moros y Cristianos

In several days.
There are numerous towns in the province that celebrate this festivity, commemorating the reconquest of the Christians to the lands occupied by the Arabs. Its parades, the costumes, the music, the participation of the citizens... are a true marvel. Some of the most famous are those of Alcoy, Villajoyosa, Crevillente, Villena or Elda, among others. Of course, they are also held in Alicante city, although this time it is by neighborhood and on different dates..

Romería de Santa Faz

March-April.
On the second Thursday after Holy Thursday, the Santa Faz Pilgrimage is celebrated, where more than 250,000 pilgrims walk from the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás de Bari to the Santa Faz Monastery. In it is the canvas in which the image of the "face" of Christ collected by Veronica is embodied. It is traditional for those who attend the pilgrimage to wear the typical pilgrim costume and the pilgrim's cane. In addition, halfway there is the traditional "paraeta" to eat ring-shaped pastry and mistela. And it is common to see pilgrims eating outdoors in the surrounding fields.

Carnaval

February.
Carnival night is one of the most fun of the year. The citizens are concentrated in one of the main avenues of the city, La Rambla, which fills up with all kinds of characters at night. It is a party that is lived in the street and involves all citizens. In addition, in the center of the city you will find the best bars to sit down and have a drink. We recommend that you start with the typical Castaños afternoon. It sure won't let you down. And, of course, don't forget to enjoy the gastronomy of the city.
